Little People, worth every penny!!!

On Lauren's first birthday her grandfather gave her this Little People Farm. At the time I hadn't seem Little People since I was a girl. When I was little we had the village, airport and garage and the people were made of wood and a perfect size for choking on if eaten. :o) My how the times have changed!
This farm was a huge hit with Lauren when she first got it and still is played with to this day. If there is one thing I would spend money on it is Little People. Our farm makes animal noises, plays the old McDonald tune and came with a bunch of farm animals and a farmer. Well this farm started a huge trend in our house and those of others as well.
It wasn't long that word traveled around the family and friends circle that Lauren loved her farm. She also got the Little People House complete with Mommy, Daddy and baby for her first birthday. That too a huge hit. Next thing we knew all the other one year olds we knew had the farm which we had recommended to them.

Today we are the proud owners of several "peoples" as Lauren calls them. We have the zoo, the playground, and of course the castle which came with a princess. The castle was from just this past Christmas. Both of the girls are always playing with them all. They both get all excited when I tell them it's time to go upstairs to get dressed or have a bath. As soon as we get to the top of the stairs they run to Lauren's room and shut the door so they can "play peoples". It's pretty cute to peek in and see Lainey holding two of the people and making them say "hi" to one another. They are starting to play together more now too. They are such a great toy to play with and use their imaginations.

When we moved from one house to another almost 2 years ago, Lauren's "piggie" from her farm went missing. We thought it would soon be forgotten but it went on for almost a year. "I wish my piggie would come back", "Ohhhhh Mommy, I sure miss my piggie". We tried to give her other pigs that we would find but no one sold the "piggie" on it's own without the farm. Finally this past Christmas we had had enough and put the word out that we were looking for a piggie. Lauren had me write a letter to Santa for her. She asked for "dancing Dora, a doll for Lainey and for her Piggie". She was hoping Santa would go to the old house and pick piggie up on his way to our house. :o)

Luckily my Mom found someone who had an old Little People farm and didn't need their piggie anymore. So we were in luck. Christmas morning Lauren came down to the tree and found Dancing Dora, a doll for Lainey and..... "MY PIGGIE!!!!!". I was watching that on video the other day and it's a memory I'll always remember. She's almost 4 now and still loves her people from birthday number one.

So if anyone is wondering what to buy a little boy or girl for their first birthday, two words for you "Little People".

That is so funny that you wrote this post---because I just bought little people for a first birthday party that we are going to TODAY!! Nee-nee-nee-nee (that's the twilight zone theme...doesn't translate well in print!)
They were all out of the farm (which we wanted to buy!!) so we bought the little people bus with people instead. That's hilarious timing of this post!!
Isn't it sweet how Lauren wanted her piggy from Santa. It's so refreshing to see kids that haven't been attacked by the consumer junkies that want 'more' and 'bigger' things from Santa.
My neices and nephews also have lots of little people that have been extremely well used over the years. They call them their 'chubby people'.
